20 July 21 - Welling School Sports Day

Welling School Sports Day

Being in our home town of Welling, we was thrilled to be asked to provide the inflatables for a local school's sports day. This school is pretty special to us, we have a lot of ties to it and we even host our own inflatable days here, too.

We wanted to make sure we was providing the best possible package for the school so they could have a great time. After-all, it's not every day a school gets to have inflatables for the sports day!

Being a secondary school we needed to provide inflatables that could cope with larger children. The school had a tight budget and needed it to go as far as possible, yet still provide something fun and physical. We had originally planned to suggest inflatable games; They're skill based and we have enough to support a sports day. The school wanted something more energetic though for the older age range, something to put them through their paces and really compete against eachother, preferring the idea of track.

Due to the size of the school and volume of children we provided a special two day package so they could go out in year groups and the head of PE had the great idea of combining some of the traditional games with the inflatables to make a real track and challenge.

We opted for two fun-runs and a giant RUSH slide, all of which are adult capable and fully support the older children at secondary school. We mixed the track up after the first day so that no one could work things out or get tips from the previous day's competitors. Essentially though, the idea was to go two at a time around the inflatables in a head to head heat, with the mount everest finish being the giant inflatable slide.

After the two days the school was thrilled with the event and are already booking for next year.

If your school is looking to up their game for sports day, we'd be very happy to discuss options. We have a very big range to choose from and can support either primary school ages or seconday school with a lot of different options. It's a novel idea and one that dusts off the concept of a traditional sports day and brings it into the modern age. There isn't anything wrong with egg and spoon races, sack races and good wholesome fun, but if you want to combine the two or just go all out to modernise it and have the children excited and invested in the event, this is a perfect solution.
