Too Windy for a Bouncy Castle!
As a respectable and safe bouncy castle hire company, we do not set-up inflatables in high winds. Today saw record breaking wind speeds with local speeds upto 70mph gusts.
The legal limit for erecting inflatables outside is 24mph maxmimum (including gust speeds), so it was very nearly 3 times the limit. During the winter months we do not hire outside, but these high wind speeds can happen during the summer months, too. That is why we always keep a close watch on the predicted gust speeds on the met office website (the confirmed golden source of data from the HSE).
We also carry anemometers and record the wind speed on outside hires. If the wind speed is higher than 24 mph we must insist that inflatables aren't used outside and will almost certainly need to cancel the hire if this is known before the event.
Today while we was in Hextable we saw many fallen trees that where up-rooted. Not small ones either, but large and well established trees with deep roots.
If the wind can do that to a tree, then it certainly isn't safe for a bouncy castle filled with air! These are local photographs and proves that this can and does happen in our area.
It isn't something we take lightly, but sometimes we must insist that a booking outside is cancelled if the wind speed is too high. This action is only ever taken for your childs safety and we hope that our customers understand.
