St Michaels Church Hall Hire in Welling
We're very lucky to live in Welling and be surrounded by so many great halls for hire. One hall in particular though that we have a fantastic relationship with is St Michaels Church Hall, it's actually called St Michael's East Wickham Church Hall, but everyone knows it locally as St Michaels.
We live a 4 minute walk away from the hall or less than a 2 minute drive. Over the years we've recommended the hall to lots of people; It has a good car park, excellent access from the rear as well as the front, a really lovely sized main hall with a reception area and one of the biggest kitchen areas for a hall we've ever come across. The toilets are big and although they could do with moderisation, they're clean and always well stocked.
There's a little unknown history to the hall, with the previous care-taker having the hall named after her. If you ever hire the hall you'll see "Red's" above the door. This refers to the little old lady that used to run the hall bookings, open and lock-up after all of them and make sure that they're clean. Today her hair is white, but she used to have Red hair and the hall was named after her nickname when she and her husband raised the money for the church to help build the hall, providing a revenue stream for the church to keep going. A devoted church-goer, it was a fitting tribute.
Sadly, she can no longer keep up with the demands of running the hall and these days we don't see her very much outside of the shops or the church (she was actually in our wedding video popping up and down the aisle and busying herself). However, it's a nice piece of history that is unknown to most and could easily be lost.
The hall has some hanging lights and while some castles may fit in safely, others could be too high. We're always recommended for bouncy castles as we know the way the hall works, what fits safely and what they would turn away (we've been called last minute on several occasions as the customer has booked with someone else and they arrived with an inflatable that the hall wont allow). We have lots that will fit in safely and able to site and position them accordingly to make sure there is no risk.
