Bouncy Castle Repairs

Sadly, from time to time bouncy castles and infatables have some wear and tear. When we erect our inflatables and pack them away we're doing more than just blowing them up, we're surveying the area, looking for risks and making sure the inflatable is as it should be.

While packaging away our blue low-height v-front bouncy castle (aptly named due to the front opening looking somewhat like a "V") we noticed some wear. This wear over some time may have potentially led to a small accident if left un-checked.

Every inflatable requires an annual safety inspection by a competent persons; We choose to use a local man who has been in the industry for nearly thrirty years, he is an RPII inspector and we have our inflatables PIPA tagged which is recognised by the health and safety executive.

This is only required annualy though and the inflatable is only a month away from it's next inspection due date. We could have easily left the wear and see what he said when they are all inspected, continuing to use the inflatable until such time, or shelving it for a month.

For us though, this was an easy decision. We contacted our repair man immediately and arranged for the repairs to be carried out that week. The castle is popular and during the winter low height castles are more popular due to the increased hall bookings to avoid the cold, dark and wet of outside hires. The option of "risking it" was never one we woudl entertain.

This sort of things happens occasionally and isn't always newsworthy. However, the part that made us write about it this time was the inexplicable timing. No sooner had we returned from the repair man, we received a phone call asking if we could accomodate a bouncy castle hire in Eltham.

The poor family had been let down from a supplier that they had found on a facebook group who had since took their deposit and vanished. The hall was extremely low-height and it was for a boy, where they explained that his favourite colour was blue.

Within an hour of us returning with the repaired castle, it was being set-up to save the day in venue when really only this castle (or the pink low-height bouncy castle of it) was able to accomodate the tiny clearance.

For us, it was rather quick validation that we made the right decision to act swiftly and not risk putting it out regardless, letting it go for another month.
