Bouncy Castle Safety Inspections

We recently wrote about PIPA testing in a blog and what it means. For us, this isn't something we over-look or let go till the next inspection is due. New stock arrives, units need repairs and some when purchased do not have a full 12 months left until the next inspection is due. It's quite common for a bouncy castle company to have all of their equipment inspected once a year in one big go (it's really the most cost-effective way of doing it), quite often lettign new stock or stock that has repairs required that are un-noticeable to customers, but obvious to a bouncy castle man.

While it is more expensive having adhoc tests completed, for us it's essential to stay compliant and have them tested when needed immediately, rather than wait till the next big "inspection day".

The truth is, we've been doing this long enough to know that not matter how much you think you know, there's always more to learn. The moment you believe you know more than the inspector, or able to determine whether a unit would or would not pass an inspection yourself and guessing it would be ok, is the moment you are putting a life in danger.

Some operators may believe that because their unit passed it's last inspection, it means that it would pass again and so there is no harm in waiting a few months until the big batch is due, keeping them all in synch. This isn't the case, it's like believing that because your car passed it's last MOT, it means it will again 12 months later. Just because the model is sound, it doesn't mean that things can't deterioate. For example, flaky artwork is a fail, loose stitching can be a fail, low air pressure can be a fail too... Inspectors also see things that most do not. They're looking for wear on common stress areas and other places that could easily be over-looked.

We're very much fo the position that it's better to have units tested on an adhoc basis when they're needed, and then include them again in the big annual inspection day, even if that's only a few months away. That way we insure they are all synched up again and testing more often is better than testing less often!

Here's a few photos of a few units being inspected, one of which was new and needed it's first inspection, while ther other two where under a manufacturer issued certificate and needed recertifying by the RPII / PIPA inspector.

While we probably could have "gotten away" with leaving these, we have hires in Dartford and Bexleyheath this weekend with those units and wouldn't ever hire them out to customers without knowing that they are safe and within date!
