Bouncy Castle Repairs
Once a year inflatables have to be inspected by a competent persons. A competent person is someone recosnised as such by the health and safety executive (HSE).
We satisfy this requirement by having an RPII inspector come to us once a year (we can't got o him as he doesn't have enough space for the amount of inflatables we have) and he PIPA tags the inflatables for us once he is satisfied they meet the specified requirements.
However, if we ever see any issues with any of our equipment that could potentially pose a risk to safety given enough time, we take them to the same inspector (who is also a repair man for inflatables) ahead of this annual inspection.
We could in theory leave it till the next inspection, but that just doesn't meet our standards at all. It could become worse, pose a safety risk or cause an issue on a hire. Just because technically we could wait for the next inspection date, it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.
That's especially the case with the type of issue we spotted on our unicorn bouncy castle on it's last hire. The webbing on an achor point had become slightly frayed. This would have likely lasted for many more hire before it become a real problem, but we knew immediately that it had to be rectified.
Bouncy castles have anchor points, these are metal rings attached and sewn into the bouncy castle with a strap (normally webbing). These anchor points are what are used to attach sand bags to in halls or what are used to hammer in big steel stakes into the ground outside. Without them, the castle simply isn't secure.
While technically the bouncy castle has more anchor points than is strictly necessary, we couldn't tolerate one not being as structually intact as it should be. The hire finished on Sunday evening and was taken to the inspector today, within less than 24 hours!
We're happy to report that the entire anchor point has been replaced and the inspector also carried out some other work we wanted on another bouncy castle while we was there.
Sadly, not every bouncy castle company has their inflatables inspected and even less would have repairs (or really just prevantative maintenance before it becomes worse) carried out ahead of schedule or is required. However, our commitment to safety is more than just a slogan or a tag line on our website. Our customers put their trust in us and we promise to uphold safety standards to the highest possible.
