Bouncy Castle Fete in Dartford
We're really pleased to have been chosen to supply bouncy castles to Dartford Valley Rugby Club (GOALS in Dartford). They had a big fete for the start of the Easter holidays and they chose us to provide some bouncy castles. Sadly we wasn't able to take more photos, but this one is pretty cool, showing two identical bouncy castle models, only different in colours and theme (although the super hero bouncy castle is brand new and in all gloss).
We set the inflatables up in-line with how the site manager requested. It isn't how we would have initially chosen to lay them out, but it was safe and secured. In the end we could see why they wanted them that way, as people was playing on the field with footballs and rugby balls, so the sides of the bouncy castles facing the field made sense and offered a bit more protection should there be any wayward balls from over enthusiastic fete goers!
We're very happy to accomodate small fetes and bookings, but equally capable of supporting large events where 20 or more inflatables are required!
This particular site set-up was actually not forth-coming regarding power supply details. Originally we understood that the inflatables where going to be set-up 25 metres from the building itself, using the site's power sockets. When we arrived, we had to drive approx half a mile from the site building. They had supplied their own 20KVA generator (which is more than adequate for the amount of bouncy castles they had), but they never actually let us know before hand.
Generators mainly use 16amp and 32amp connectors, using waterproof c-form sockets. This means you can't plug in a 13 amp 3 pin house-hold plug directly. We're willing to bet that if almost any other bouncy castle hire company had arrived today, they wouldn't have had an immediate solution to the challenge, having only stocked the cables they intended to use from the booking info they had been provided. Fortunately, we carry extra cables, connectors and coverters. We had a 16 amp power distributor on-board with 16amp male to female leads.
This wasn't a problem for us, but there was several others that had arrived with 13 amp 3 pin connections, too! Candly floss stalls, pop-corn makers and all other electrical equipment! Not only was we able to put up our own inflatables and run them safely from the generator, but we also had enough capacity to help another vendors with their power requirements, running off of seperate cablesand RCD's. Not bad going for an unexpected situation!
This probably all sounds very boring, in fact it's putting us to sleep as well. However, what we're trying to say is that we always come with extra capacity and well prepared. We're experienced enough to know that things do not always run to plan and sometimes unexpected challenges pop-up. The organisers didn't know that hiring a generator was that complicated and come with those connections. We're very used to fete hires and always take extra equipment "just in-case". The organisers were extremely greatful and thanked us several times for helping them, but we was pleased to do so.
